Increased Test and Trace requirements from 29 March

The Test And Trace guidance has been changed to state that from 29 March 2021, every customer or visitor should be asked to scan the NHS QR code or provide their name and contact details, not just a lead member. This requirement applies to England:

  • Tourism and leisure, including holiday parks, cinemas and amusement arcades
  • Hospitality, including pubs, bars, restaurants and cafés
  • Close contact services, including hairdressers and barbershops
  • Annex A of the guidance has the complete list of businesses that have to comply with this new requirement.

All venues in England in scope of the regulations are legally required to display an official NHS QR code poster. Find out how to create an NHS QR code for your venue here.

Note: Everyone in a group must check in, either by scanning the official NHS QR code poster with the NHS COVID-19 app, or by providing their contact details. Previously, only the lead member of the group needed to provide contact details to check in.
