Reopening of indoor performance venues, indoor play areas and spas

The Prime Minister announced the removal of restriction on certain businesses and activities in England from 15 August. The following will be permitted: indoor play and indoor soft play areas; bowling alleys; skating rinks and casinos.

Easing of restrictions also applies to indoor theatres and music/performance venues (England) with socially distanced audiences, operating under the Government’s updated performing arts guidance – read more. This follows a successful series of pilots and marks stage 4 of the government’s 5-stage roadmap for the return of professional performing arts.

While spas in England will also be able to reopen from 15 August, the updated guidance from Government for close contact services says that saunas and steam rooms should remain closed until further notice. The use of changing rooms should still be discouraged wherever possible, with customers advised to change and shower in their accommodation. Read more.
