VB Sentiment Tracker shows people still cautious

VisitBritain has released the latest wave (38) of its sentiment tracker covering the period from 23 to 27 August 2021. Some of the relevant findings are that:

  • Only 49% if people think that things will return ‘close to normal’ by the beginning of next summer
  • Less than 60% of people think that a domestic holiday will be able to take place this autumn/winter
  • 25% of people say that they will take fewer domestic breaks between now and the end of the year
  • 38% of people say that they will take fewer overseas breaks between now and the end of the year.

Predictably, as we move towards autumn, the popularity of caravans as an accommodation choice is reducing. Overall, quite a high proportion of respondents remain cautious – particularly about catching COVID – with only small shifts towards greater confidence about the return to normality and taking holidays.
