Wales accommodation survey for 2020: parks sector fares better than most

In 2020, the hotel industry in Wales was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, as was the guesthouses/B&B sector, a Government report says.

The self-catering sector, however, fared much better overall than the serviced sector.  Both static caravans and holiday homes and touring caravans and campsites recovered well once restrictions had ended in July.  Self-contained static caravans and holiday homes fared well, with a seasonal May-October average occupancy similar to previous years at 89%, whereas touring caravans and camping sites saw a seasonal pitch occupancy of 32%, somewhat lower than previous years.
