Northern lockdown – new restrictions: The official guidance to accompany the Northern Lockdown announced on 30 July has been published – read more.

The majority of tourism businesses in the affected areas, which include parts of Greater Manchester, Lancashire and West Yorkshire, are allowed to remain open. Businesses that have to close are the following ones in Blackburn with Darwen and Bradford:

  • indoor gyms and fitness and dance studios
  • indoor sports courts and facilities
  • indoor swimming pools, including indoor facilities at water parks.

People from outside are still able to enter the lockdown area e.g. to undertake a holiday (provided that they do not socialise with other people indoors).  Separate households have, however, been banned from meeting indoors.
