From Wednesday 26 January, proof of Covid status will no longer be legally required in hospitality premises, although business will be guided to retain the use of certification. It will remain in place for nightclubs and indoor unseated and partially-seated events with 500 or more people in attendance.

From this date the reasonable measures for social distancing in offices (2m) will also be removed, although risk assessments should continue. Ministers have also agreed to remove rules on table service in hospitality businesses, as well as the “rule of six” per table from midday Friday 21 January.
